Job Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for being a key component of accounting’s month-end close process, financial planning and analysis, continued refinement of existing operational analyses, process and control environment, and financial reporting.

Job Functions

  • Preparation and input of general ledger entries for GAAP and internal accounting
  • Participation in month-end closing and reporting activities
  • Perform financial statement and account analysis, including various reconciliations
  • Provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with the yearly budgeting/forecasting processes and budget to actual variance reporting, as needed
  • Assist with annual financial, tax, vendor and other audits
  • Research various accounting issues for conformity to GAAP and advise on fundamental changes to existing accounting policies and procedures, adoption methodologies, practical expedients, and impact to the financial statements
  • Timely and effectively complete miscellaneous projects and tasks
  • Continually drive ongoing process and procedural improvements, including internal controls, within the accounting department and company

Education/License/Certifications

  • BS/BA/MS degree in accounting, finance, and/or equivalent
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Candidate must have extensive experience with financial analysis and auditing
  • Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience is required
  • Senior audit associate CPA firm experience or higher is preferred
  • Oil and gas or oil and gas field service experience is preferred

Experience

3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Candidate must be able to gather and merge all pertinent statistical data and use and demonstrate sound business analysis with strong spreadsheet skills using MS Excel
  • Technical GAAP research experience
  • Capable of interpreting and explaining financial/accounting terminology and principles
  • Candidate with Netsuite ERP System experience is a plus
  • Candidate must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and possess the ability to effectively prioritize those tasks
  • Candidate must have the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
