Flowco is strengthening its valve testing and quality processes with the introduction of the Performance Validation System, or PVS.
PVS enables Flowco to test and document critical aspects of valve operation under controlled conditions. By capturing performance throughout the test cycle, the system provides more complete data, repeatable results, and improved traceability for each validated valve.
For customers, this means receiving more than a valve that passed a standard inspection. It means receiving a valve supported by a documented record of how it performed during testing.
Moving Beyond Pass-or-Fail Testing
Traditional quality checks can confirm whether a valve meets established requirements. PVS expands that process by recording how the valve behaves throughout its operating cycle.
The system measures:
- Upstream pressure
- Downstream pressure
- Stem travel
- Opening and closing performance
- Seat leakage
- Component integrity
Reviewing these measurements together gives Flowco’s technical and quality teams a clearer understanding of how the valve responds as pressure and movement change.
This makes it possible to evaluate whether the valve opened and closed consistently, maintained its required sealing performance, and operated according to its expected performance profile.
PVS uses advanced non-contact testing technology and mechanical test devices to deliver accurate, repeatable performance verification. Testing procedures are aligned with API 19G2, while the supporting documentation and quality processes follow an API Q1-aligned approach.
Comprehensive Valve Validation
The Performance Validation System evaluates multiple areas of valve operation:
- Bellows integrity testing
- Probe and load-rate testing
- Open and close performance testing
- Seat leakage testing
- Back-check testing
Together, these tests provide a more complete view of valve performance. They also allow potential issues to be identified during manufacturing, when they can be evaluated and corrected, instead of after the valve has entered service.
Testing cannot eliminate every risk associated with installation, operating conditions, or maintenance. It can provide a stronger and more thoroughly documented foundation for reliable field performance.
Improved Records and Product Traceability
PVS also expands the quality information connected to each validated valve.
The system supports:
- More complete testing records
- Traceability to the individual valve
- Historical quality-control data
- Long-term performance trend analysis
- Continuous manufacturing improvement
Over time, this information can reveal performance patterns, strengthen manufacturing processes, and inform future product improvements.
For customers, the result is greater visibility into the testing completed before a valve is released for service.
The Value of Expanded Validation
The purchase price of a valve represents only one part of its potential operational cost. Downtime, troubleshooting, lost production, maintenance, and early replacement can carry a significantly greater impact.
Performance validation requires specialized equipment, additional testing, technical oversight, and more complete documentation. That added process will be reflected in product pricing, but customers are not simply receiving the same valve at a higher price.
They are receiving added value through:
- More thorough manufacturing verification
- Earlier identification of potential issues
- Better performance documentation
- Greater confidence in critical applications
- Less exposure to preventable field problems
Building Confidence Before Deployment
Introducing PVS is part of Flowco’s continued focus on product quality, manufacturing improvement, and dependable field performance.
As operating environments become more demanding, customers need more than general assurances. They need useful performance data, repeatable testing, and documentation connected to the product they are putting into service.
When a valve is intended for a critical application, its performance should not be assumed. It should be validated.
